flood on 13 November
For many firefighters and municipal employees was the night of Saturday night short and exhausting. Hundreds of sandbags filled and had to be related to the risk score, watching the flood control reservoir and residents are informed. Even employees of the lower water authority and the Eifel-Rur water were there and the rise of the flood watch critically. The next morning at the ceremony to mark Memorial Day I was able to see some firefighters that I had never seen before in the evening at the locations. More than three hours of sleep had not been. All I can say is hats off to such a voluntary fire brigade. Meanwhile also came thank you letters, eg from the St. Francis Home gGmbH. That by judicious use of the family of David (an excavator cleared away a short hand way and let the water flow) and the fire service, the nursing home has been preserved castle trips of wet feet and a larger evacuation. All participants to express my sincere gratitude for this courageous and professional stakes in this high-water night!
